There are only two words that one can use to describe the Alberta Ferretti fall/winter 2015-2016 collection presented today on the Milan Fashion Week runway: breathtakingly beautiful.
In a forest themed space with the very bohemian feel, our first lady walked down in her lovely black midi dress with all the lacing and chiffon, before we greeted some fur and lovely designs on a waterfall sleeve coat won over a white lace dress and suede thigh high boots. We watched swatches of lace and beautiful embroidery sashayed down the runway, with billowing sleeves and tulle necklines. The white lace was somehow reminiscent of European fashions, while the schoolgirl style outfits made it out as well.
We’ve seen the bare chest appear among the fashion shows, from the New York Fashion Week to the London version and now come down to the Milan, but rarely were they so artfully done so that only outlines of what lies underneath are perfectly clear, kept a secret under the floral designs that so perfectly cover up all the right regions, banning the nipples from showing off. On the contrary, we were happy to see such a piece grace the catwalk. There is something quite sexy about many of the pieces that showed too little skin and much in terms of feminine curve tucked away underneath layers of fabric, perfectly tailored to show off the woman’s curves. We especially loved the pieces that had the black lace chiffon with the purple embroideries adding a touch of demure flirtation to the pieces.
It did appear as if the whole of the Alberta Ferretti fall/winter 2015-2016 collection was inspired by European fashions of the 17th to 18th centuries, taking into account the fashion rogues and those of high society. Even the handbags were tied purses in velvet with gorgeous embroidery and tassels in black, while the tight fitting trousers somehow reminded us of riding habits. The pinkish purple in a deep hue was utilized against a back backdrop for so many of the pieces, while the black chiffon swayed about the legs and came up to create a high turtleneck design, bringing the attention the beauty of the face and the features so naturally presented, the hair parted from the center and pulled back into a loose ponytail. The royal coloring thus created such a beautiful almost fairy-like appearance, the gradient hues appearing to catch the eye. White ruffled shirts were tucked into the purple trousers while ladies in varying designs and palette of the purple walked out onto the stage.
The instrumentals of the song “I’ll Be Watching You” might actually have been the perfect background music for this Alberta Ferretti fall 2015 collection, whereby Eastern and Western Europe, the city glamour and the country lifestyle were all captured in a modernized version of the pieces that define each culture. The lightweight materials were combined with the thicker brocades, but the general feel was all too lovely, deserving a place on the red carpet and in our own closets. Plus, thigh high boots with little to no heels in suede are a must-have this season, while the thick scarves will do much to protect us from the chill. Out of the 50 pieces presented on the runway today, all appealed to our fashion taste buds wonderfully.
