  • Zuhair Murad Couture Spring/Summer 2015 Collection
    Mar 06, 2015

Ellie Saab wasn’t the only Lebanese fashion designer showcasing his couture spring 2015 collection at Paris Fashion Week. We were also treated to the incredible Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2015 collection from the 44-year-old Beirut based fashion genius, who has an extensive line of haute couture, ready to wear pieces, accessories and eyewear. The successful designer wants to broaden his scope and also include beauty products, perfumes, swimwear and lingerie in his extensive portfolio, though our eyes are currently feasting on some amazing couture numbers that lined the runway just a few hours ago.

We definitely could understand why all the stars began wearing Zuhair Murad fashions, including Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Christina Aguilera, Nina Dobrev and Jennifer Lopez. We saw firsthand the breathtaking pieces that were sent down the runway; models in beautifully embellished floral tulle gowns, or ethereal garments decorated with blush pink rosebuds and smatterings of sparkle knocked the wind right out of us. We were left mesmerized and cannot wait to see some of these gracing the Oscar red carpet next year.

The Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2015 collection was all about the delicate embroidery and shimmery details, much like the Ellie Saab collection. The ornate gowns were sometimes slashed in a really deep plunging V-neckline, but the long sleeves and floor-length hemlines kept the pieces rather conservative, for the most part. Of course, we did see white a few numbers where those nipples were peeking at us through a hazy veil, but that was to be expected when we realized that the new collection was a culmination of featherweight fabrics, including tulle and silk, as well as sequins, rhinestones and beads used to adorn every single gown thrown out there. Despite the exposure of the chest, the Zuhair Murad line held no sense of vulgarity, instead appearing ultra-feminine with the ruffles and thin belts across the waist, giving it a bit of a cinched look. There is sensuality at play here, but each item could be said to be as sophisticated and glamorous as any that’s been worn on the red carpet. We might even argue that these haute couture pieces are more so.

The colors prevalent across the collection included white, ivory, pale grey, pale blue, pale pink and pale yellow, all of which had some form of defined feel to it. Embroidered floral designs were also common, shimmering against the lightweight fabrics of the gowns. The sky seemed to be the inspiration and the heavens the portrait used to create these majestic designs.

Of course, it would be a sin not to mention those incredible wedding dresses that have left us gaping as they pass us by. They are as incredible as any Zuhair Murad design is expected to be and more! The final gown of the Zuhair Murad Couture spring/summer 2015 collection especially is fit for a queen, with full petticoats and long tulle sleeves. Even the veil is as astonishingly mesmerizing as they come! Of course, there were shorter dresses as well, though they never did inch up higher than a midi length. Capes, bodysuits and peplum tops did seem to make an appearance a few times as well, though nothing compared to the majestic gowns that had us feeling like we’d just entered the heavenly city of Olympus and met the gods.
