The public has many things to say about Ly Nha Ky. But rarely, we would stop to ask “Who is actually Ly Nha Ky?”. In showbiz, her name now is definitely a household name. Ever since she had her start in showbiz, Ly Nha Ky has been acting, modeling, doing commercials, as well as fashion shows… At any role, she always left her significant marks. But the name Ly Nha Ky as a brand truly exploded when she stepped away from the spotlight, focusing on business, became our Tourism Ambassador, and ran many social projects.  

Her pictures were on many French newspaper and magazines. These were just further proof for her popularity to international media, which was something rarely achieved by other Vietnamese celebrities. 

During her brief trip in France, Ly Nha Ky has done a specially exclusive shoot for TTGD. Right when she got back to Viet Nam, we had a chance to sit down with her, listen to her sharing on life, and answering some of the most requested question by the fans.

I always remember one saying that: “ The fastest way to self destruction is to please everyone”. In life, not everything you do will be well received. I did what my heart wanted me to do, from my love for this country, for my people. I think it is actually a good thing if anyone have the money to buy this postion. I hope that more and more people would spend money on showing the world the beautiful side of our country.  

You spent 1 million Euro for the trip. It is a considerably large amount of money. How was the result? I had planned 3 big panels promoting Viet Nam Tourism in front of the Majestic Barriere, which was a 5 star hotel.  This was exactly opposite the Palais des Festivals, where all the red carpets activities happened, where all big celebrities appeared throughout the festivals. 

I was just doing promotion, I wasn’t selling tour or anything so I wasn’t expecting any immediate result. But I strongly believed in one thing, that those who came to Cannes, they had power, positions, they had distinct voices and knowledge. When they saw the panels, they would remember. I just hoped for that. 

I made my exit from showbiz 3 years ago to focus on business. Is it because of that people make assumption about me taking chances for a business partner. We all know, chances don't just come to you, you have to make them. How? By meeting people, that is how. 

Why don’t you think that I was finding and making my chance to present Vietnamese Tourism and People through meeting and working with politicians and international friends. These are the things that I put my whole heart in, and I hope that people will see the results. For now, anything said more is just going to be considered as excuses.  

So after 3 years away from the spotlight, how has your life changed? 

I never really made my good bye to showbiz, because what I am doing now is tightly related to art. To be honest, I did not see many changes. I am still merging in many different aspects like social projects, appearing in shows here and outside of the country, or get invited to events. But my business always comes first.

I don’t think that taking financial advantages is how you maintain a relationship, money should not be the basis of any mutual feelings. Same with siblings, I don’t think I should work with any of my adopted brother or sister. I just want to keep a strong and healthy relationship to all. If you want to work with each other, you have to see the others as actual business partners. 

Since the start, they have never been my partners. We visit each other, enjoy meals together but not business. 

Making money is not easy. Ask any wealthy person, making money is a lot of hardships. Money does not just fall from the sky. I never denied that pure luck is one factor to my successes. To look back of my past ten year journey, I really could not reimagine some of the things that I have been through. 

I always remind myself to never stop trying harder, to make new steps to conquer. We can never just sit there and wait for good things to come, we have to make an effort. Instead of wondering why somebody is rich, we should ask ourselves why are we not on their level yet 

To me, the curiosity about me is a also a part of my fortune. I don’t believe in chance. It is your dream and your dedication that lead you to success onfthe path that you have chosen. 

Speaking of Ly Nha Ky, people think of diamonds, luxurious yacht… What if people say that your influence come from your money, do you have any objection to that? 

I don’t mind people calling me that, or even when I throw a rock into the water, spending a considerable amount of money for charity. I just afraid of being called heartless. 

“In life, what matters is not the thing that you have, it’s the thing that you do”, that is a saying that I kept near and dear to my heart. I admit, I am addicted to work and the taste of success. But I have never tried to just gain some position. I think it is necessary to be worthy of trust and to have influence. From there, I can dp many good things for the society. 

Let’s put your business aside, you just mentioned social projects. Is this the next step that you want to achieve? 

That’s right. After lots of work and positions, my biggest ambition is to become more and more helpful to the society, using my strength on the international platform to represent Viet Nam. Which was also the expectation that international friends had for me.  

For any field that I have entered, I put in lots of passion and effort, so business, or social contribution,.. I have always tried my best. But among all, I think doing charity is truly the thing I want to pursuit for life. 

I came from a humble start, a mercy house that society gave to a man who fought for this country. Therefore, I yearn to give back to the society. 

Fortune, fame, and power,  now what else do you need? Love? 

Who lives that doesn’t want love. Of course I have a love for myself. Even though I am just too busy but each person has a different way to express love. 

To me,  love doesn’t mean that you have to see each other all the time. Just thinking about the other, provide mental support is also a way of love. 

To me, being pretty, talented, smart, and even famous is not a barrier for a woman to find love. I have always had my own prince for the past 8 years to love and share with me everything. 

Sadness can be hidden but not happiness. You look at me, you see me happy, full of energy, passionate about work, and enjoying the most out of my life. Do I look like a lonely person? (smile) 

So do you have any plan on actually building a family yet? 

Not only in work, but also in life I always have my detailed plans. I had already make plan for it. When the day comes, I will definitely tell everyone. I think the wedding will be my most precious moment in life.
